LYN

Make way for the fresh yet seasoned voice of British Female Reggae, LYN, as her time to take centre stage finally calls.  LYN has been forging a name for herself in the music world for many years. Her vast credentials include working as a backing singer for artists including Womack and Womack on the‘Teardrops’ tour.  In the early 1990’s she worked with the ‘Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra’ (Mykeal Riley the band leader was originally a founder member of Steel Pulse).  In 1995 she toured with Sheila Ferguson as one of the 3 Degrees.

LYN has also done studio sessions for Hot Chocolate, Osibisa, Lighthouse Family ‘Ocean Drive’, Shara Nelson (Massive Attack) on her solo album ‘What Silence Knows’ in 1993.  LYN even made an appearance on ‘Top of the Pops’ as a backing singer for Ashanti on the song ‘Foolish’.  She has also worked as a backing singer for Terry Walker.

Her Reggae credits over the years include working as a backing singer for artists such as Luciano, Kymani Marley, Bitty McLean, Kofi, Lloyd Brown, Black Slate, Cornell Campbell, Justin Hines, Trevor Walters, Fred Locks, Angela Wynter (East Enders), Sylvia Tella, Cassandra London and Peter Spence to name a few.

LYN is also a music teacher, writer and workshop leader having studied at Goldsmiths University in 2003.

It’s easy to see why every ounce of LYN’s experience has been grafted into her first album entitled Debut.  The album produced by industry icon, Lloyd Brown, and distributed through Jet Star Music bridges genres, emotions and expectations.  With highlights from the album including the sultry and enticing Secret, Debut delves into an array of sophisticated themes that LYN feels are yet to be addressed by the Reggae world. Social and political concerns are heralded in People whilst Red, Gold and Green honours her contemporaries, predecessors and heritage.

LYN believes there is room for all in this industry and she is ready to take pride of place.  Her soulful approach to Reggae will give a new boost to the British Female Reggae scene here and around the world.  Listen out for her…… you won’t be disappointed.........
